NFL Week 13 Predictions
November 30, 2005, 8:49 PM | 0 Comments
Week 13 in the NFL and the biggest story this year is the 11-0 Indianapolis Colts. They’re winning in so many different ways that it really looks like they have a chance to go undefeated. I certainly hope they do.
Last week on Monday Night, Peyton Manning opened off the game with an 80 yard touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison on their first play. It was a huge statement that set the pace of the game. Pittsburgh was pretty much finished after that, and the Colts never looked back.
Heading for the Polls!

Well, I wasn’t exactly planning this, but it turned out pretty well. Canadians are headed for the election polls on January 23rd. Today, Prime Minister Paul Martin’s Liberal minority government was finally defeated by a non-confidence motion, effectively ending his current term as PM.
Reinspire.net is also heading for the polls, but I’m talking about a completely different type of poll. I’ve been hard at work on a polling system for this website that I’m happy to unveil today. As I said, I wasn’t really planning this to coincide with the election call, but so be it.
NFL Week 12 Predictions

So, last week I ended up going 9-7 for my picks, which was a little disappointing. What’s more disappointing though is the fact that the Packers lost again. More on this later.
This week brings us 2 games on Thursday (Thanksgiving in the US), and both of these games have playoff implications, which should make for an interesting Thursday.
New Hosting Provider

Well, after 3 months with my old host, I’ve moved the site to a new hosting provider. My provider of choice is now DreamHost.
I’ve been reading about DreamHost for a long time now, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. After a few bouts of frustration with my old provider, I decided that it was time to make the move. It’s really a good thing that I only signed up for a 3 month term in the first place. I would suggest this method of sign up if you’re going with a host that you’re unsure of, or haven’t heard much about before. Actually, I’d suggest going with DreamHost in the first place so that you save yourself the hassle.
NFL Week 11 Predictions

Last week I went 8-6 which isn’t that great. There were a lot of upsets last week, including a very entertaining end to the Monday night game (more later).
This week, the NFL goes back to a 16-game schedule now that every team has had their bye week. The weird thing is that on paper, this should be a fairly easy week to predict. Every single game has a definite underdog. However, this is the NFL, and nothing is guaranteed.
Sony DRM Update

What a difference a week can make! Exactly one week ago I posted my frustrations regarding Sony’s Digital Rights Mis-Management. Over the last 7 days there has been a few major developments in this story. It seems that I wasn’t the only person who was frustrated by the way Sony is going about their content protection.
If you check with the original entry, you’ll see that I’ve posted some updates at the end. If you don’t want to check back for the updates, here they are:
NFL Week 10 Predictions

After a good week last week (11-3) I brought my overall total to 80-50. I’m hoping to repeat that kind of success this week, or preferably, improve on it.
Last week was a great week of football with several good games that went right down to the wire. This week I’m looking forward to Dallas at Philly, St. Louis at Seattle, Denver at Oakland and of course, Green Bay at Atlanta.
Sony’s Digital Rights Mis-Management
November 5, 2005, 5:51 PM | 2 Comments
The other day I purchased a CD that ended up making me angry. Not because the music is angry in any sense, not because the music disappointed, but more because of Sony BMG’s ridiculous Digital Rights Management (DRM).
Unknowingly, I had purchased a disc that included copy protection software that not only limits the amount of times you can copy the CD, but also forces you to use a protected Windows Media audio format if you’d like to copy your music to your computer - which makes it extremely difficult to copy the CD to your iTunes music library, and ultimately, your iPod.
NFL Week 9 Predictions

This week marks the half-way point for the NFL’s regular season, and after 8 weeks of predictions my record is sitting at a somewhat respectable 69-47. (.595).
After going 10-4 last week, I hope to at least do that well this week. This week brings several great games that will be exciting to watch. Topped off by Monday night’s game in New England where the Indianapolis Colts will try to do something they haven’t done for a long time… beat the Patriots at Foxboro. I will admit though, it looks like there will be a lot of tough predictions this week.
Looking for Something?

I figured it was about time that I added the search component of this site. I actually had it ready to go about a week ago, but just haven’t found the time to sit down and finally implement it. Well, it’s here now, so go ahead and try it out.
I’m not completely finished with it, as there’s still a lot of things that I want to do with my site search, but I decided to throw it online in its current state anyways, as “some search” is better than nothing at all.
